Marisa is a multidisciplinary Artist, your creative process covers various means of artistic expression, despite revealing a close relationship with sculpture, and photography.
My creative process covers various mediums, from sculpture to photography, but it's clear the relationship that I have with sculpture and common objects.
I like des-contextualized objects and assign them new languages and expressions.
The intention of my art is to create reactions on the viewer. The moment when the objects can provoke on the viewer the element of surprises, and invoke on them their own imagination, is all meaning of my work.
And is this looking for different reactions on the viewer that takes me exploring new means new techniques and new ways to combine objects and make them "uncanny".
The inspiration comes from various points, as a good book or from a simple gesture or an action, to a simple common object of everyday life, like the feet of a chair, if they enter into harmony with me, the creation arises.
How can it come from the influence of concepts like assemblage, object Trouvé and ready-made Thoughts and concepts created by different artists and theoretical movements, that allow me with my contemporary vision recreate them.
Another formal aspect that I like to explore in a sculpture is creating a mesh with nails that allow light and shadows, play and transform solid material, on something more transcend.
Behind that playing with the lights and shadows, this sculpture can win another life using photography that I actually study, is the different ways, of seeing a sculpture, through photography. The exposure time in photography can transform the body of the sculpture.
My process is unconscious, it's become from the interactions that I have with the material in specific moments and what they mean to me at that time, it's a spontaneous process. While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my methodology is consistent. Although there may not always be material similarities, between them, they can be different projects but they linked by recurring formal concerns and through the subject matter.
The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms of the work.
Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During the research and produce new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.
